Bad Habits Can Be Hard to Break!

Are you feeling stuck in a bad habit? Have you tried to break the habit but find yourself right back where you started? Are YOU Trying to Change Your Bad Habits? Why Will Power Alone Often Fails! What if I told you that focusing on your bad habits made them worse?

You may be wondering how that's possible. It sounds counterintuitive, but it's true.

Psychologists have found that when people focus on their shortcomings, they make themselves feel worse about themselves and this leads to more negative thoughts and feelings.

"Be Miserable or Motivate Yourself, Whatever Has to Be Done...It's Always Your Choice." Dr. Wayne Dyer

Have you ever tried to lose weight, stop drinking, quit smoking or eliminate sugar from your life, only to find yourself craving the very thing you decided you don’t want?

When we put too much emphasis on our flaws or mistakes, it becomes difficult to see the good things in ourselves because we're so focused on what is wrong with us. This can also lead to feelings of helplessness and inadequacy because there are no clear steps for change.

The true power lies in our subconscious mind where all our habit patterns and emotions are stored. Whatever we think about or focus on causes a response from our subconscious reinforcing the very thing we’re trying to eliminate.

Ever feel like the harder you try the harder it is? The reason for this is that whatever you focus on you get more of. This is the law of our subconscious mind.

This is for anyone who feels like their old habits are controlling them. I want to talk about why focusing on the negatives of your habit makes it worse, and how instead we can focus on replacing that negative thought with something positive.

"Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you'll start having positive results." Willie Nelson

For example, instead of deciding to lose weight, instead decide that you want to be healthy and how great eating less and exercising makes you feel awesome, gives you more energy, boosts your confidence and motivation!

Imagine yourself out walking and enjoying getting fresh air and sunshine and how great it feels to move your muscles. Smile while you imagine what you desire, and your subconscious will recognize how fantastic it is. Imagination is the language of your subconscious mind. You can even imagine yourself feeling great while pulling on your skinny jeans in front of the mirror.

This will engage the subconscious mind to give you more feedback and motivation to engage in activities that will help you feel healthy and actually fit into those jeans.

Every time we focus on our bad habits and that we want to eliminate them brings them into our conscious awareness. When you feel like it’s too hard or that you failed, it’s easy to give up and feel like a failure or somehow not strong enough or good enough to succeed.

“Thinking happy thoughts literally creates a positive chemical change in the brain which stimulates both positive physical and psychological benefits.” Dr. Deepak Chopra

When we think about how we're not good enough, we only make things worse and feel more discouraged by ourselves and our lives. We need to stop focusing so much on what's going wrong in order to make things better again and achieve our goals.

This is why hypnotherapy is so helpful. With the guidance of a professional hypnotherapist, you can retrain your mind to focus on what you desire instead of what you don’t want.

During your hypnosis session, you will connect with your powerful subconscious, release negative programs and gain support of your subconscious to help you succeed. When your mind is focused on what you desire, success becomes easy.

If you're ready to make that change, I can help. Give me a call and let's discuss how my proven hypnotherapy program may be just the thing to make it easy.

Warmly, Colleen
